"SANITY SAVERS SUNDAY"

Part of what I would like to start doing this year is to become more organized and to find better ways to be more efficient and effective in all the things that I do on a daily basis. I'm sure many of you have had that as a New Year's Resolution as well. So on Sundays, I will share with you a tip, website, or other thing that I think might help us in this area. Of course, I am open to suggestions, so please leave a comment or send me an e-mail if you have any suggestions or ideas.

That's why I'm calling it "Sanity Savers Sunday," because I'm hoping that by becoming more organized, I will regain some sanity - okay, so one can only hope! :)

Aside from staying organized in my home and personal life, one of my goals is to stay organized in my business as well. If you are anything like me, you find yourself surrounded by mounds of paperwork and a to-do-list that's a mile long. I am going to share with you a few things that I am using to help me stay organized in my business communications.

One of my favorite things to help me reduce the paper pile is using eFax. I have a traditional fax machine at home but sometimes it does not work well and since I don't have a dedicated fax line, I have to be at home near the fax machine for it to receive the faxes. With eFax, it delivers the faxes straight to my e-mail so I don't have to be home to receive a fax and I don't have to waste paper printing it out unless I need a printed copy. You do have to download the eFax software to view your faxes, but you also have the capability to have it saved as a PDF file (depending on the plan you choose). You can also send faxes through eFax, although I have not tried that yet.

Right now, they have a special where you can try the eFax service for free for 30 days to see if you like it. You'll be assigned an eFax number and you have the option of choosing a local number (depending on the plan you choose). Sign up here to get started or click on the box below.

Another service I have been using for my business (and personal) use is Skype. Remember when it used to be so expensive to call long distance to someone across the country or across the world? Well, now it is so easy and you can do it from the comfort of your computer. My kids even use it to say good night to their grandparents, who live less than an hour away. With Skype, you can do video calls so you can see the person on the other end and they can see you. We had French foreign exchange students staying with us over the summer and they used it to stay in touch with their family and friends in France. You can also do voice conference calls with more than one person. If the person on the other end does not have speakers or a camera, there is also the capability to type a chat and they will still see the video, so there is definitely flexibility. I was able to complete my BeCentsAble Educator Certification exam by using Skype to communicate with my Regional Trainer. Skype is definitely changing the way people communicate with each other. You will just have to download Skype's software after signing up. The service is free unless you want to add some other services to it. Sign up for Skype by clicking here or by clicking on the box below.

I would love to hear how you keep your business communications organized. Please leave a comment and share your tips and experiences with us!
