Whether you've simply been putting it off or you and yours are planning on traveling anywhere you will need a passport this summer, there is no time like the present to get your passport. That is if the present is Passport Day on March 27, 2010. A recent proposal has been announced by the U.S. State Department to raise passport fees for a first-time passport to $135 and $110 for a renewal. Additional visa pages would cost $82. To help you avoid the increase, the U.S. Postal Service is hosting a Passport Day on Saturday, March 27 at regional branches throughout the country. You will be able to apply for either routine processing or pay an additional $60 for expedited processing. Click here for list of Post Office's participating in Passport Day. No appointment is needed on this day and they will have Passport-themed events for adults and children.

How do I get a Passport?

Attend Passport Day on March 27th or you can apply for a passport at many post offices around the country. The fees and payment methods are listed here. For an additional $15 fee, your passport photo may be taken at some of these offices as well. Click here to find the closest Post Office™ to your home or office that accepts passport applications. Some offices may require an appointment to accept your passport application or take your photo, so please call first. Select, complete and print a Passport Application Form in advance to abbreviate your visit. You can also find forms at your local Post Office and many public libraries.
