Last night, my husband and I attended Celtic Woman's "Songs from the Heart" concert at Rosemont Theater, courtesy of Music Moms. We didn't know what to expect since we had never attended a Celtic Woman concert before. The theater was packed with some die-hard fans front and center. Our seats were not too far from the stage and we had a good view of the concert. From the moment the lights went down and the music began, you could feel the audience's excitement.

We were truly amazed at the vocal harmonies of Chloe, Lisa, Alex, and Lynn. Each of them performed at least one solo and each of them have such beautiful voices. My favorite vocal performance of theirs was when they performed "Danny Boy" acapella. I was really blown away at how in sync their voices were and how fabulous their harmonies were, plus they added some flavor to the song. Another performance that I enjoyed was when they sang "Amazing Grace." They had a guest performer come down the aisle playing the bagpipes before the song, which made for a dramatic entrance. My favorite song off their new album is "When You Believe," and when Chloe performed it, she sounded even better live.

The biggest surprise to us was Mairead, the violinist. She was mesmerizing to watch. I still can't believe how well she plays the violin while she's dancing, jumping, and running around on stage - all with a big smile on her face! She would get the band playing and the crowd clapping and dancing along with her during the breaks between vocal performances. Of course, she also played the violin on a few of the vocal performances. The most amazing part is how she still had the same level of energy at the end of the show as she did at the beginning of it.

The band was also fantastic. The drummers were featured on a few of the numbers and they also brought humor and energy to the performances. The vocalists made sure it was an ensemble performance, giving kudos to each other, to the band, and to the audience. They told us how Rosemont Theater was one of their first stops on their first concert tour in 2005. They have been coming back here every year since then. They also mentioned how this concert is their 21st concert stop in Illinois. They love the fans in Illinois (and apparently, the fans in Illinois love them as well).

Before this concert, my husband and I did not know much about Celtic Woman. We left the concert having enjoyed ourselves, marveling at the entertaining show we had just witnessed. Every time we hear one of their songs, we'll remember how they sang it live.

They have another performance tonight at the Rosemont Theater, and if you have the chance to attend, I would highly recommend it. You can check for available tickets here. If you cannot attend the concert in Rosemont, check for upcoming dates and locations here.
