Five Lessons Every Child Should Learn

The new movie, Nanny McPhee Returns, will be out in theaters on August 20th.  Here's a little bit about the movie:

In Nanny McPhee Returns, Oscar®-winning actress and screenwriter Emma Thompson returns to the role of the magical nanny who appears when she’s needed the most and wanted the least in the next chapter of the hilarious and heartwarming fable that has enchanted children around the world.

In the latest installment, Nanny McPhee appears at the door of a harried young mother, Mrs. Isabel Green (Maggie Gyllenhaal), who is trying to run the family farm while her husband is away at war. But once she’s arrived, Nanny McPhee discovers that Mrs. Green’s children are fighting a war of their own against two spoiled city cousins who have just moved in and refuse to leave.

Relying on everything from a flying motorcycle and a statue that comes to life to a tree-climbing piglet and a baby elephant who turns up in the oddest places, Nanny McPhee uses her magic to teach her mischievous charges five new lessons.

As in the movie, with four kids, this topic is always one that weighs heavily on my mind.  What are the lessons I think every child should learn?  In our every day life, my husband and I try our best to encourage our kids to be the best people they can be.

The five lessons I think every child should learn are:
5) Respect others' differences. It can be such a great learning experience to have others who are different from you as a part of your life.
4) Keep your playfulness throughout life - keep a smile on your face and laughter in your heart.
3) Share with others even when you don't feel like it. You never know when you'll wish someone had shared something with you.
2) Tell those you love that you love them every chance you get. You never know what life will bring you but love is truly the greatest gift.
1) Follow your passion in life - treat every day as an adventure even if you are doing the mundane things that need to be done.

What do you think are some other lessons every child should learn?
