The main reason I started couponing and deal-finding more consistently was to help reduce our household grocery budget. In the past year and a half alone, we’ve easily save thousands of dollars on our grocery bills!
Here are some of my favorite savings tips to still be able to by my family’s favorite brands:
- Sign up for your grocery store’s loyalty card. Many times you can get great savings and rewards just by doing so.
- Use coupon matchups to find out when the best sales are going to be for the brands you use.
- Stock up on those brand items when they are on sale. Make sure you have enough to last you until the next time they go on sale.
- Use store and manufacturer’s coupons to get the best deals on your favorite brands.
- Visit your favorite brand’s website to find coupons and to sign up for their newsletters.
- Utilize your grocery store’s website to find mobile coupons or other services they may offer.
- Go shopping with a list and stick to that list.
- Use a coupon organizer, such as the Couponizer, to keep track of which coupons you will use on a shopping trip.
For example, I am a major Pepsi drinker. When there is a good deal on Pepsi, I will stock up enough to last for at least 8-12 weeks, since I know that the best deal on this probably won’t be available until then. Also, I know that for my family’s favorite brands of cereal, it normally costs between $4 to $5 a box, but by using coupons paired with a good deal, I pay only an average of $0.75 a box. I make sure to have enough coupons on hand so I can stock up when that good deal comes along.
Use promotions, such as Kroger’s CartBuster savings events, to stock up on your favorite brands, like P&G, Nestle, and Pepsi. During their CarBuster Savings events, they will have a Deal of the Day, big store-wide savings including couponing on top of the Deal of the Day, and a contest to be able to win the Deal of the Day for FREE! The CartBuster event will be held February 27th through March 12th.
When you are able to take advantage of using great store promotions, along with coupons, you can easily walk out with at least 50% off the retail price of your groceries.
Most of all, enjoy yourself and know that you can still eat what you love without having to pay full price for it!
