In my household, we all love eating breakfast. My husband, kids, and I all have our favorite cereals. In fact, I stocked up on cereal right before the blizzard and we went through 8 full-size boxes of cereal within 2 weeks! That is one reason why I started couponing and deal-seeking more consistently because I used to pay $4 to $5 full price for each box of cereal, but now only pay at the most $0.75 a box for them! But, I digress. My family and I feel that breakfast definitely is the most important meal of the day because it's what fuels you for the rest of the day. Plus, it's a time for us to get together as a family before going our separate directions for the day.
We feel blessed that we have enough food to feed our family, but we also realize that there are many other families out there that are struggling to put food on their tables and that breakfast must be skipped sometimes. Especially for children, that may hinder how they do at school for the rest of the day. That is why we are happy to share with you a great initiative that Kellogg's has started.
Kellogg’s has partnered with Action For Healthy Kids to help fight childhood hunger as many children go to school on an empty stomach each day. Kellogg’s is asking people to take pictures and “share their breakfast” on their website. One photo upload to their website or the word SHARE texted with a photo or a description of your breakfast to 21534 equals one shared breakfast.
Kellogg's goal is to share 1 million breakfasts in the 2011-2012 school year.
* Nearly 1 in 4 kids in America struggle with hunger.
* The Kellogg Company believes in the power of breakfast and how breakfast can help families make the most of each day’s possibilities.
* Through July, Kellogg's is asking people to take a picture of their breakfast and share it at ShareYourBreakfast.com
* Share your breakfast with Kellogg's, and they'll share breakfast with a child who needs it.
* TWITTER PARTY * Be sure to participate in today's Share Your Breakfast Twitter party from 10 AM to 12 PM EST (9 to 10 AM CST). Visit Mom Bloggers Club for more details.
